One of the scenic natural views of the Bhaktaputr district for relaxation, leisure and rejuvenation is the Ranikot Hiking Resort. It is ideally situated south-east of Ranikot Vanjyang, 7 kilometers from Suryabinayak Chowk and 17 kilometers from Kathmandu International Airport.
For any nature-loving tourist, Ranikot is a complete package of hiking, canyoning and scenery. Around 10 minutes’ walk from the Ranikot Hiking Resort top, you can see some remains of the “Ranikot Durbar(Palace)” built in the Malla Period. There are still protected monuments such as Chuche Dhunga (Pointed Stone), Ghodedada, Bagh Bhairab Temple, and “the well” where the queen bath is located. A picturesque view of the whole of Mt. Manasalu, Mt. Ganesh and Mt. Kanchanjunga can be enjoyed from the palace. A thousand steps have been taken to enter the Palace. Ranikot is popular for canyoning, so keep your eyes open for animals such as tiger, jackal, deer, rabbit, porcupine and various bird species such as fowl (kaalij/tittra), Lamapuchhere, etc. Aashapuri Mahadev lies to the east of Ranikot, Phulchowki Danda to the south, Doleshwor Mahadev (head of Kedarnath) to the north, and Suwarneshwor Mahadev to the west. This whole region is, from the point of view of visitors, the best spot.
