Dr. Iwamura Memorial Hospital was founded in Bhaktapur in 1998 and began operations in 2001 in honor of this renowned individual. Local community members have been the key stakeholders in this hospital since January 2005, and they have taken over management. Since then, the Hospital has been steadily improving and extending its facilities in order to provide dependable and inexpensive medical care.
Dr. Noboru Iwamura was born in Japan on May 26, 1927, and was a survivor of the Hiroshima Bombing in 1945. He died on November 27, 2005, at the age of 78, from blood cancer. Dr. Iwamura Memorial Hospital was established in Bhaktapur in honor of this wonderful individual.
