In 1967,  Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) was established as a non-political, non-profit, and representative chamber of Bhaktapur district businessmen. BCCI aims to reflect the district ‘s overall interest in manufacturing and trade. It is also an autonomous representative body of the district industry and trade, and is affiliated with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

One example of how an organization can develop within a short span of time could be BCCI. It had started its journey of organizational growth in the early 90’s and grew so rapidly that in 2003 it obtained the ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality management system. This is the first historic step in the chamber movement in Nepal as well as in the organization of company membership Business Membership Organization (BMO) community.

BCCI is registered in the district administrative office of Bhaktapur under the Nepalese government’s Association\Organization Registration Act. The chamber ‘s membership base is based on the firm’s voluntary wishes.
